I don't know why flowers hold such symbolic importance.
All I know is that when I buy them for my mum's birthday every year (and since I've been at uni I've just had them delivered by a local florist instead) she cries when she receives them, and then tells all her mates how wonderful I am. Massive gay that she is. So yeah, don't know what they mean but they make her happy so I'm all for them.
