it didthe prices came down for a little while.
it's the only protest i can think of that had any effect. things like the fucking tamil tigers protest that made me miss my friend's fucking wedding, however.... they can fuck right off.

The prices came down because the price of oil came down.The level of tax remained exactly the same.

There is an argument put forth by somethat the poll tax was being scrapped anyway and the riots didn't make any difference.
Personally I don't know.
