I'M MAKING CRUMPETS!
The batter is in the airing cupboard rising, and now I am going to get changed so my work clothes don't get covered! WOO
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 19:46, 4 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
don't crumpets just come in a packet and go in teh toaster

(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 19:46, Reply)
"apparently"
they taste loads better if you make them. Also I can then be poncy whenever people mention them and say "oh... you don't make your own?"

I may need to spend some time in the bakery isle in Asda to really get any use out of that line

spending time in the bakery aisle
I'm not sure for what, but that is totally a euphemism

Good thanks Jeff :)
It's all scabby now. Which is super attractive. If I wasn't baking I'd have like 40 dates to choose from tonight

I think I'd start Mid March to get all the AWESOME days in

(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 19:54, Reply)
hahaha I like yours more.

(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 19:54, Reply)
Do you have one of those things that puts the holes in?

(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 19:50, Reply)
...baking soda?

(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 19:50, Reply)
No, the little pokey things.
Some people use knitting needles.
I use hungry ants.
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 19:51, Reply)
My recipe doesn't call for pointy things.
The baking soda makes the bubbles which burst by themselves making the holes
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 19:52, Reply)
I was messin abaaht

(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 19:54, Reply)
Oh if I was TGB maybe I would have got the joke

(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 20:19, Reply)
Oh hush.
I seriously thought that wasn't you the other night. I was being vigilant.
How are the crumpets looking?
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 20:24, Reply)
Baking soda added, back in the airing cupboard
Cooking commencing in T-15 mins.
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 20:30, Reply)
I can't believe you haven't inserted the bubbles yourself with a bubble-inserter.
The youth of today!
Do you make pikelets the same way but just thinner?
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 20:32, Reply)
Last time I used a straw
But I sucked by accident and hiccuped crumpets for a week
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 20:33, Reply)
There are worse things to hiccup.
Like cucumber.
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 20:36, Reply)
or anything spicy

(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 20:37, Reply)
Rather that than cucumber though.
So tasteless on entry, so strong on exit.
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 20:38, Reply)

I don't really eat cucumber. And I'm probably not going to start now
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 20:40, Reply)
I've stopped eating it
but occasionally it's chopped into tiny pieces in a salad, and it infiltrates.
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 20:43, Reply)
I'm impressed
if they turn out well I'll get the recipe from you. I fucking love crumpets
(, Mon 14 Feb 2011, 19:52, Reply)
