I think if you're going to goNow is the time, because this time next year the Job Centres will be bursting at the seams.
I know a couple of people who have picked up reasonable jobs recently.

Againpart of my reasoning is being only 40 (only???), I'm hopefully young enough to not be left on the scrap heap. Either way I've got a fair bit of breathing space as we should be able to live comfortably fo about 15 months once the debt is paid off.
