I regularly make silly jokes when giving lectures and seminars
and most of them either go over my students' heads or else just aren't funny. I'm hoping it's just because I use very old references - they don't know who Robert Redford is!

I spent a good chunk off
a lesson explaining why it was funny that a student had a dentist appointment at 2:30

apparently it doesn't work in wales as the pronounce tooth as 'tuth'

I once told my students that 88.3% of Internet statistics are made up on the spot.
They dutifully wrote it down.

I tried to convince my students that hens didn't exist. I like that you get at least 30 seconds where they think you are serious
