So warhammer is as gay as it gets?
What is the point of the game?
(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 0:56, 1 reply, 15 years ago)
it's a war game
you have an army each (which you select and paint) then they have a battle (which takes too damn long) which has a particular objective, ie destroy the other dude's tank, kill all the other army, etc.

Most of my male friends from home
have rediscovered Warhammer and 'Magic: The Gathering'. Whenever I go back I invariably end up sat in a room watching them play, bored out of my mind. Which is why I ended up reading Bizarre magazine at new years, and then got shouted at for being antisocial. *facepalm*

I don't mind games, as long as they're inclusive and 'geek points' aren't a factor.

(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:02, Reply)
I'd rather play scrabble, frankly.

(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:06, Reply)
I've not played scrabble is ages.
I'm going to bed shortly. How is the cake looking?
(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:09, Reply)
Slightly burnt :(
my stupid oven is stupid, sometimes it goes really slow and then other times it goes like a rocket and charcoalifies everything. This was one of those times :(
(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:10, Reply)
Is it gas or electric?

(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:14, Reply)
Electric, there's no gas at all in the flat
hence the storage heaters. It's a fairly old oven though.
(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:15, Reply)
Would your landlord change it if you complained?

(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:16, Reply)
Almost certainly not, no
it's perfectly useable, it just has it's foibles. Such as burning my cake one day but undercooking it another, using exactly the same temp/settings etc.
(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:18, Reply)
Bad times.
You know what you should do, is get yourself to a shop that bakes cake, buy one, put it in a tin and claim it's your own creation.
(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:20, Reply)
That;s cheating, I couldn't do that!
I'm sure it's edible, just a bit burnt. I shall sample it in the morning adn if it's horrible I shall very quickly make another.
(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:21, Reply)
i, for one, am not that fussy :)

(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:24, Reply)
It's more the principle of the thing
I've been tooting my own trumpet about cake making and now I'm going to rock up with something blatantly overcooked!
(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:25, Reply)
Your cup cakes were lovely.

(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:28, Reply)
Is that a euphemism?

(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:34, Reply)
No.
The cakes were lovely.

We've recently played a lot of
"Last Night on Earth" which is a boardgame with different scenarios of a zombie apocalypse. One (or two) players control the zombies and the rest control the heroes and there's a specific objective.

It's damn good fun.
(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:33, Reply)
I quite liked magic
when I played, but then I met all the people who spend all their time building decks :(
(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:07, Reply)
What is the magic?

(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:09, Reply)
magic the gathering
a collectable card game
(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:09, Reply)
Pokemon for the over 13s?

(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:12, Reply)
magic came first
pokemon and yu gi oh are more recent. And I've seen 'grown' men playing them
(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:13, Reply)
I haven't.
If they want to play cards, what is wrong with a proper card game?
(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:15, Reply)
not enough
rules
(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:22, Reply)
Crucnhy.
I hereby suggest you don't date anyone who engages in such activities. In the long run, you'll be happier.

It's the collecting Jeff
it fires up the Nerd gene.
(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:34, Reply)
It just sounds a bit gay to me Lighty.

(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:36, Reply)
Surely you mean
Tragic: The Saddening?
(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:16, Reply)
That sounds really fucking shit.
Not just the fact you've got to paint your army, but the fact you've got to destroy a fake tank.
(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:00, Reply)
I think it's how obssessed the people who
play them get. Also, for some reason anyone playing them starts smelling within minutes. I have seen this phenomenon with otherwise ordinary individuals who've had showers. By the end of the first turn, they stink. Must be pheremones or something
(, Sat 19 Feb 2011, 1:09, Reply)
All the more reason why I don't like the idea of this 'game'
I've avoided such people for years, I'll make sure things stay that way.
