Also, REM
How a band can have such a protracted career without writing a single interesting song is beyond me. Before anyone says it, I have a blind spot where Status Quo are concerned because my Dad is their biggest fan. They were his specialist subject when he was on Mastermind. Not kidding.

Mainly because The Quo wrote quite a lot of good songs

(, Mon 21 Feb 2011, 15:00, Reply)
I think Quo rewrote one good song several times until it ceased to be good, in all fairness

It's ok Darth
Everybody hurts sometimes.

Spit on it, that should help

(, Mon 21 Feb 2011, 15:09, Reply)
But it's bigger.
It's bigger than you and you are not me.

I find this genuinely nauseating
I suspect I shouldn't have told you this

*vomits spectacularly*
Excellent, that should allow me an extra 300 calories today. Thank you kindly

I haven't said enough
since I thought that I heard you laughing.
(, Mon 21 Feb 2011, 15:24, Reply)
See if you can get through the rest of the day with posts containing nought but REM lyrics

(, Mon 21 Feb 2011, 15:29, Reply)
I'll be trying to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it.
(, Mon 21 Feb 2011, 15:37, Reply)
If you manage it
I'll buy you a pony*

*not a pony

Status Quo were fucking great at times
and whilst true latterly, the accusations of ‘all the songs are the same’ is demonstrably bollocks, and trotted out by ignorant mincers in sequinned bolero jackets from the Great Yarmouth area WHO DEFINITELY AREN'T GAY, OK? ‘Pictures of Matchstick Men’ and ‘Mean Girl’ couldn’t be much more different from each other.
(, Mon 21 Feb 2011, 15:11, Reply)
I'll bet you loved 'You're in the army now'

(, Mon 21 Feb 2011, 15:12, Reply)
I bet YOU love 'Margarita Time'

(, Mon 21 Feb 2011, 15:15, Reply)
YOU LOVE
That FA Cup song they did with Man United.
(, Mon 21 Feb 2011, 15:23, Reply)
Very good, Monty, in no way tired
I will concede your point and acquiesce to your admittedly far superior musical knowledge. To explain my point of view, whilst I was purloining my Dad's otherwise excellent rock'n'roll collection in my early teens he was persisting with the Quo's later output like "Thirsty Work" and the execrable 30th Anniversary collection, "Don't Stop", in which they admirably manage to make various classics written by other people sound exactly the same as each other.
(, Mon 21 Feb 2011, 15:16, Reply)
By '75 they were utter shit.

(, Mon 21 Feb 2011, 15:22, Reply)
Apparently they're something like the 3rd-highest selling British band of all time
behind the obvious two. I find this staggering, even though it can likely be attributed to building up an army of people like my Dad who'll buy every damn thing they release, and the exceptional longevity of their career
(, Mon 21 Feb 2011, 15:25, Reply)
Because they're all shiny happy people holding hands.

(, Mon 21 Feb 2011, 15:01, Reply)
Ugh, don't get me started
My first clue that this series of Glee might be headed downhill fast was a version of Losing My Religion which was worse than the original. Yes, yes, I know, fire away

Is that you in the corner?
Is that you in the spotlight, getting thoroughly buggered?

So you're old man was on Mastermind and you acknowledge that legacy
by going on Weakest Link! you may as well have spat in his face and called him a cunt. Bad son!!!
(, Mon 21 Feb 2011, 15:03, Reply)
My Dad was on Weakest Link too
He came second.

Also, Mastermind was the culmination of about 25 years of TV quiz shows. I've got time to catch him up

hahahaha that is awesome pal!!
Please go on TOtal Wipeout next!
(, Mon 21 Feb 2011, 15:22, Reply)
I would LOVE to
However, my next quiz show win (as I've decided this will be my main form of earnings from now on) has to exceed £3.5K so I can get my eyes lasered. Total Wipeout would be perfect, but it really strikes me as something that one needs decent eyesight for

My mate had his done the other weekend says it's amazing.
He had it manually done so was shitting it. Cheaper though I believe.

Not an option with my prescription
Plus I'm so precious about my eyes that I'm only doing it the most expensive way! TGB had hers done recently and was delighted, Sportscow has also advised me it's awesome
