Oh and I thought of a proper Answer.
I've always been a fan of whatsisname, Tony from Wire in the Blood - played by Robson Green. I know he's not a "proper" detective, but he's still brilliant.

It's been a brilliant series.
I missed all of the first series (didn't have digi at that point) and caught some of the second. However, I just bought the series 1 & 2 box set for £15 at HMV yesterday, so looking forward to catching up.
