I have a thing for dimmer switches.
Having had one installed in the kitchen I have an urge to get them in all the rooms.

I think at my age, they can work wonders.

i have them in every room
they were there when i bought the flat. they buzz if i dim the lights though, it's v irritating. but it does look good, esp with the fire and candles lit too.
