Who have consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty, often making personal sacrifices and risking life and limb in order to do what had to be done. I can't choose between the two, so I'll nominate both John McClane and Jack Bauer.

He'd just say "Dammit!", get Chloe to send something to his PDA and then get creative on McClane with a lightbulb and some cornflakes.
