I wouldn’t necessarily say ‘hero’, as that just seems excessive to me. So here are some people I have varying amounts of respect for...
Footballers Jamie Carragher, for making Nani cry and Dirk Kuyt, for giving 1/3 of every wage packet to charity.

Author Stephenie Meyer, for attempting to reinvent a genre, and not doing too bad a job of it.

Vincent K McMahon, for revolutionising an entire sport, and proving that being a complete bastard can make you obscene amounts of money.

And my Dad, for raising us kids alone for 8 years, during which we went through several severe money issues, he managed to keep us fed and clothed.

Shut up about sport. It's shit.

^this
Apart from syncranized swimming. That stuff is amazing.

And women do that bringing up kids with no money stuff all the time.

People bringing up dinner in bus shelters is more impressive than
an adult saying 'look, I can jump really far'.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:47, Reply)
no it isn't.

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:42, Reply)
Apart from maybe your dad
that is the shittest list ever.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:40, Reply)
it really really really is

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:41, Reply)
Stephenie Meyer reinventing a genre?
don't be ridiculous. You might as well say that JK Rowling did the same.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:41, Reply)
And with more justification
Stephanie Meyer is incredibly bad
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:43, Reply)
You could argue she's fueled the fantasies of thousands of tween girls
And is therefore grooming-by-proxy on a massive scale.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:45, Reply)
This as well
maybe we can charge her as accomplice in some domestic violence cases in the future
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:46, Reply)
At the very least we can do her for 'incitement to self harm and be all emo and shit'

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:48, Reply)
...and is therefore fucking GREAT.
I'm with AA here.

(Who is she?)
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:46, Reply)
Seriously?
She wrote the Twilight novels.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:47, Reply)
Oh. Sorry AA, I've changed my mind.

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:48, Reply)
Not to worry, I knew I'd get a flaming for that
But I'm of the opinion that the books were nowhere near as bad as the films seem to be.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:49, Reply)
The film wasn't as bad as the book
it managed to subtract most of the creepy vibe.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:50, Reply)
But lost any humour whatsoever
In the books, Edward was actually quite funny, very silly sense of humour.

In the films he's just a miserable fuck.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:58, Reply)
Yeah but like I said
less creepy misogynism
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:59, Reply)
Ahh, true

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 10:01, Reply)
the whole thing seems very disturbing

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 10:02, Reply)
wrote Twilight

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:47, Reply)
I DID NOT.
YOU wrote Twilight - no returns.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:48, Reply)
I cannot second this more strongly
The first book is so riddled with mistakes and incongruity that the pathetic sobbing emo-ness of it almost passed me by

Almost
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:45, Reply)
Note the word 'attempting'

(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:47, Reply)
Torn on the Carragher thing
On the one hand, he's a twat and a talentless clogger who's made a career out of committing fouls and getting away with 90% of them.

But making Nani cry is a genuinely admirable achievement.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:46, Reply)
You want to get that sewn up, then,
With your lifestyle, that tear could become infected very quickly.
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:49, Reply)
7/10
Good work this morning Mr Boyce
(, Wed 16 Mar 2011, 9:54, Reply)
Don't be shy, give a big shout out to your heroes Green Day
