I'm not massively keen on the fish you tend to get over here in a lot of places, too thick for my liking.
I tend to go for either a few small bits of fish, or go the jumbo battered sausage route.

I have a mix of pickled onion vinegar and the vinegar from those sweet peppers. It's vinegartastic.

malt vinegar is a pretty standard condiment over here, so I suspect I probably just assumed it was that.
