One of my rarest rave 12"s is Mickey Finn's first ever record.
It's this, and it's one of my favourites of the era:

You see, now you are talking sense
What year was this out?
(, Fri 15 Apr 2011, 15:10, Reply)
90 or 91 I think.
EDIT it's 91 - my favourite year for raving. The music was still quite varied, the drugs were strong and plentiful, and I was 18. Magic.

Not really that heavy or hardcore as you wished earlier

Not drum and bass at all either you helmet.

I know! I thought that feeling flowed deeper in dance music as a genre

My favourite type of rave tune was the 'bleep' stuff like 'LFO' by LFO.

LFO
Was a solid tune, solid bass and lots of space. The daddies of Bleep Culture had to be Sweet Exorcist. Fucking amazing. The Testone series with the brilliant sample, 'If everythings ready on the dark side of the moon, play the five tones', was and still is, monumental.

They also predated Dubstep by releasing the eyeball shaking 12", Clonk. If you love bass, then track it down on vinyl. More low end wobble than is actually necessary.

Try Magnetic Man, you might like it.
I could hook you up with a list of the good shit if you want. Or get hold of the Best of/Annual albums and pick and choose the best stuff from there. Warning: there is a LOT of utter shit dubstep out there.
(, Fri 15 Apr 2011, 15:12, Reply)
This is exactly the point for every track i like, there are ten shit ones!

It's a shame as the genre holds a lot of promise, especially for anyone who loved drum and bass
but every studio-mixologist and his stoned mate have the gear in their bedrooms now and think they can produce interesting, meaty tunes. No, pricks, you can't, your music sounds just as mighty badger described.

Magnetic Man
Is more Popstep than it is Dubstep. Very formulaic, predictable and dull.
(, Fri 15 Apr 2011, 15:45, Reply)
Oh no, someone disagrees with me on the internet.

(, Fri 15 Apr 2011, 15:49, Reply)
Nope
Just typing my thoughts on Magnetic Man.
(, Fri 15 Apr 2011, 15:55, Reply)
Fair enough, it's blatantly pop but I like it.
