More than normal, yes
Apparently handpoked tatts don't swell up as bad, which is a relief as I'll be driving to and from Liverpool.

I thought they were just kids books that were a bit better than average. Have I missed something important?

I wouldn't say it they are important by any means.
being a kids book doesn't necessarily mean it isn't worth reading.

i didn't mean kids books aren't worth reading
but there is a habit of kids fantasy books to look OK, but be a bit meh...I need convincing before I'll read them

they are certainly better than most kids fantasy I'd say. Not as good as say The Hobbit though.
