excellent, thank you, and still not over yet.
It was a cracking episode, was it not? Classic Moffat-style.

It was indeed superb
Loved it. The problem with an episode that good which leaves so many questions unanswered is that the next one, and any others like it, are going to seem pointless and unsatisfactory by comparison.
(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:17, Reply)
I hope
they solve the mistery bits by bits, telling us a little each chapter, so that they don't seem pointless.

But there's going to be a massive cliffhanger
and a long hiatus, halfway throughthe series. How will we survive the summer?????????
(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:20, Reply)
I know
it's going to be hard. I'm considering not watching it until the whole series is out and I can sit down and watch it all in an evening.
(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:21, Reply)
but then you won't be able to sleep for a month.
I like this version. It's like it used to be, in the good old days, when we were never sure if they would all make it to the next episode.

I've only seen a few chapters of the old series
but I liked the way things linked between the first 4 2005 series. This 5 and 6 seem to be completely disconnected to all that.
(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:24, Reply)
No, no, no
I mean the OLD series. Each story was almost a distinct mini series in its own right.
(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:26, Reply)
I know what you mean
I have seen only a few chapters of those old ones. And, apart from that, I liked the way things linked between the first 4 2005 series (the new one). This 5 and 6 seem to be completely disconnected to all that.

I think it was a deliberate effort to separate Matt Smith's Doctor from David Tennant's
and the change in writer probably had an effect too.
(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:31, Reply)
Different chief writer, innit
They were keen to give it a fresh start once RTD left. My only regret in this respect is that Martha's send-off didn't involve her getting horribly murdered
(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:31, Reply)
Martha would have been less annoying
if she hadfn't suddenly got frothy over the Doctor.

Though, to be fair, I could hardly blame her.
(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:34, Reply)
Martha was fucking crap. She was none of the things a Doctor's assistant should be.
Things like individually capable, or not intensely annoying. And, preferably, possessed of the tiniest glimmer of acting ability.
(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:36, Reply)
*cough*rose*cough*
There's your annoying, right there.
(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:37, Reply)
Bonnie Langford.
Also the lesbian who played "Ace"
(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:37, Reply)
Was she a muffdiver?
They were both indeed utterly crap. But unlike Martha, they weren't being shown up by the acting ability of their Doctor. And half of the supporting cast
(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:39, Reply)
Apparently not actually.

(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:42, Reply)
Ah, so she knocked you back at a party once

(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:43, Reply)
so you're not a muff diver then

(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:44, Reply)
Genesis of the Daleks is a good example in this case

(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:28, Reply)
I heard this but am unfamiliar with the details
How long is the hiatus?
(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:26, Reply)
too long
I may have to go out and do real life things. Like work. *shudders*
(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:27, Reply)
Bella tells me that episode 6 is the one written by Neil Gaiman, and is called "The Doctor's Wife"
so I assume that's where shit gets real.
(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:29, Reply)
But did she also tell you that THE MAN was trying to GRIND YOU DOWN

(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:34, Reply)
No, she didn't
Why would she tell me that, during a conversation about Doctor Who?
(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:40, Reply)
They finish at the beginning of June
and won't have anything else until the Christmas special. Then, probably nothing else until April/May. Isn't it like that?
(, Tue 3 May 2011, 13:29, Reply)
Yes, normally
but I thought this series was being split in two or something
