I've recently gotten into 50s music.
Listening to the Malt Shop Favorites channel on the tv.
I quite like it.

When Lusters and I saw Jim Jones at the Scala
my NAMEDROP AHOY pal Andrew Weatherall played a fucking mindblowing set of his rockabilly 45s. Incredible.
We were at the bar and I said 'whoever's DJing is a complete genius' and then we went in and lo, for it was Wevvers, dressed as a WWII pilot.

He produced Primal Scream's 'Screamadelica' LP
amongst many other records. He was an early acid house/techno pioneer and was part of the seminal Boy's Own club nights - later running his own (superb) Sabresonic nights which introduced London to the Chemical Brothers, or Dust Brothers as they were then. He was the go-to remixer for lots of people for a long time, and is a self effacing expert on several genres inc rockabilly, reggae and techno.

I don't know any.
Funnily enough, I found myself shimmying and dancing rockabillyish to some song that I didn't know but sounded rockabilly at the skanky redneck bar a few months ago.

To be honest I'm more of a fan of the modern punk rockabilly.
But the old stuff is a good place to start.

The Cramps were my favorite.
Plus The stray cats and recently I was introduced to El Diablo.

The Cramps were brilliant.
Their choices of cover versions were inspired.

Garagepunk.com has some great podcasts.
Not all of them are any good but they have some great 50s and 60s rock'n'roll and surf selections - as well as some rather poor punk sides.
