I'm sipping my fourth mug of tea, finishing a scrumptious bacon sarnie and considering what to do for the rest of the day before tonight's BBQ.
Stll not allowed to drive, so it'll be either public transport to the local guitar shop or await my G/F as chauffeur.
After reading the above, I think I'll have a croissant!

... spinal surgery on the 17th of may. A 3-level bilateral posterior foraminotomy to be precise (basically they chopped all of the bone out of my spine that's squeezing the nerves to my arms). Complicated by the 2 level cervical spinal fusion I had 4 years ago.
This meant that they went through all of the mucles that attach my arms to my neck to get to the spine so I'm as weak as a kitten - but twice as cute! So, no driving for another 2 weeks at least.
Bugger!

I was losing sensation in my left hand and didn't have full control of my left pinkie (which is serious shit for a guitarist!). Plus there was constant pain in my left upper arm and my whole right arm. There's only so many meds they can give you - and believe me I tried thenm all! The surgeon told me that 'A pinched nerve is a nerve that's being slowly killed' so, rather than become slowly paralysed I took the surgical option. Glad I did too!
Revel in your youth and vigour while you can Poppet, old father time's a sneaky bastard. I still don't believe I'm 51 but my body's constantly reminding me I'm not 17 any more :)

My hip is still giving me grief after my car accident, but it's much better now than it was. I hope your arms get better.

If you're still studying biomechanics maybe you'll come up with your own cure!
As an aside, if human/machine interfaces are your thing, look up Kevin Warwick, a professor at Reading Uni (Cyborg 2.0). He had connectors implanted into his arm so he could control a cybernetic arm with force-feedback. The guy who did the implants for him did my neck!

It's only because I'm not well that it's giving me trouble. And I'm not doing biomechanics - I'm doing biomedical science. Christ I wouldn't do biomechanics, that'd confuse me too much.
