Anyone here use the Apple Time Machine to back up files?
Mine works fine with my desktop, but keeps causing my laptop to freeze. Does anyone else have this problem, and how do you solve it?
Feel free to revive mac vs PC wars. I suspect you probably will anyway.

My GF has one, it stopped working. She rang up the local dealer, took it in, they fixed it.
*yawns*

But yeah. I'd rather not have to pay for someone to fix it if it's something fairly straightforward, though.

... you can use any hard drive with Time Machine.

since the capsule seems to be working fine for one of my 'puters. This is somewhat reassuring.

Can't say for deffo, the fact that it _used_ to work makes me think maybe that's not the problem.

It's strange that it had used to be fine, and then stopped being. And two computers oughtn't to scare it: I bought it on the assurance that it'd be OK, and it's handy to be able to transfer files between computers via the capsule.
Strange stuff. It's just kicked in again for this hour's attempt. Let's see if it works this time...

The new Lion features will make transfering things a lot eaiser, designed to replicate the old "Put it on a pendrive and go to another computer" thing.
I'm loving Apple's new features.

although I hear Apple TV is a decent media solution if you don't want to be bothering with XMBC and NAS storage and the like.

I do a clean install - which I presume means un- and re-install it from and to the shonky computer. Fingers crossed...
