Do you mean a Time Capsule? Isn't that what they're called?
My GF has one, it stopped working. She rang up the local dealer, took it in, they fixed it.

*yawns*

Capsule, machine, tomayto, tomahto.
But yeah. I'd rather not have to pay for someone to fix it if it's something fairly straightforward, though.

Time Capsule is the hardware, Time Machine is the software....
... you can use any hard drive with Time Machine.

I'm assuming it's the machine that's the problem
since the capsule seems to be working fine for one of my 'puters. This is somewhat reassuring.

I've never used the Capsual before but maybe it's fucking up 'cus there are two computers on the same machine?
Can't say for deffo, the fact that it _used_ to work makes me think maybe that's not the problem.

Yeah.
It's strange that it had used to be fine, and then stopped being. And two computers oughtn't to scare it: I bought it on the assurance that it'd be OK, and it's handy to be able to transfer files between computers via the capsule.

Strange stuff. It's just kicked in again for this hour's attempt. Let's see if it works this time...

Cool, finger's crossed.
The new Lion features will make transfering things a lot eaiser, designed to replicate the old "Put it on a pendrive and go to another computer" thing.

I'm loving Apple's new features.

Is it phsyiclly plugged in, or WiFI'd ? Might be worth a try doing it plugged in.
