just found out that a festival I'm playing at in a couple of weeks
have cocked up their licencing or something so aren't allowed music past 7pm, so they have some scheme to do it like a silent disco. Fine if you are an entirely electronic band, but seeing as most there will be rock or ska bands I can't really see their plan working.
Shame because we were really looking forward to it.

if we can get an earlier slot then I will let them carry on unmutilated.
if we can't play then rest assured I will make them wear a dress and cry

That is a really, really shit idea.
Blue Haze would never stand for that shit and I don't see why you should either. Tell them you have connections with the fenland's premier Pink Floyd tribute band so if they ever want to work in this town again you suggest they get it sorted PRONTO, SAVVY?
Then tap them on the temple like an annoying woodpecker.

it is a shit idea
and one that just won't work for us as our instruments are all acoustic rather than electronic (I include my electric guitar in that because the amp is a massive part of the character of the sound)
trouble is, the organisers are friends of friends and the whole shindig is for charity...

Not your problem. You can't play - they've fucked up and brown children will die.
Go out for a meal (and leave most of it uneaten) instead.

Why not play on keyboards for the day?
Would you be Keane for that?

at a push we could probably manage to play two songs
with me on drums, drummer on keyboards, and bassist using an electric bass.
I can't imagine our singer would do very well without having the sound of a band going on around him, even if he did have the sound coming through headphones.
It'd be weird and frankly wrong.

have you lot seen the video of the band playing their song on their iphones?
I didn't realise there were apps that allowed you to play the guitar before I saw this

I think you'll find there are apps that allow you to "play" the "guitar"

yeah yeah yeah
what I mean is that they "played" their song using the apps on their phone, guitar, bass, drums, not just played the song from an mp3 player and the singer sang
