Wales in
Nicer Weather Than England (well some of it) shocker
(, Tue 28 Jun 2011, 18:00, 1 reply, 15 years ago)
My boyhood holidays in Wales seemed always to be sunny.
Apart from when we went to Anglesey. Boy that was shit.

I lived in cheshire growing up
so North Wales was the classic holiday because it was in another country but only a few hours away. I spent a lot of time eating chips in Porthmadog trying to be interested in steam trains

I lived in Cheltenham for a couple of years so I hear ya, Cap.
Although to my excellent luck our holidays were steam-train free but chock-full of CASTLES.

oh yeah, those too
also walking/driving for miles to look at some rock. Not rock music, just some rock that had some mythology attached.

I got my own back and took my parents to see Arthur's Stone round here. It's just a big fuck off piece of rock

I have absolutely no problem with that kind of thing whatsoever.
I plan to acquire Julian Cope's 'Modern Antiquarian' and do a neolithic monument tour at some point. I love that shit.

cover 'art' for that book? It's rancid

I quite like Cheltenham.
I used to have to go quite a bit for work as that was where the HQ was.
(, Tue 28 Jun 2011, 18:11, Reply)
Did you used to be A SUPER-SPY????

(, Tue 28 Jun 2011, 18:11, Reply)
No, I worked for the Countryside Agency.

(, Tue 28 Jun 2011, 18:13, Reply)
as a spy, though, right?

(, Tue 28 Jun 2011, 18:14, Reply)
Yes.
If you like.

I did tell the missus that was my job when I met her. Technically I did work for the government, so...
(, Tue 28 Jun 2011, 18:16, Reply)
YOU WOULD SAY THAT.
*gives massively unsubtle wink*

Oh, right, I getcha. Countryside, eh? Got it.
(, Tue 28 Jun 2011, 18:17, Reply)
Nicest job I ever had, that.
I was gutted when the Agency was wound up.

It was a genuinely interesting job.
Assessing local heritage projects and giving grants out.
