the learning curve when you start is a bastard
in lecturing we don't even get to observe or anything - I suspect I made a lot of fuck ups, but somehow clung on to sanity. Just.

I was young, female, and trying to teach a foreign language to kids with behavioural difficulties on a sink estate.
I'm honestly surprised I lasted as long as I did.

The SENCO complained that my classes were causing too much noise
(my room was next to her office), so the management decided the best way to help me develop would be to move me to a portakabin in the playground.

Which helped.
