about 5 inches across or sonot massive. Wasn't particularly painful apart from the first shower after having it done. That hurt like a bitch.

I don't find it painful until the artist stops for a bit and gives the skin a few minutes to settle down then the next few strokes hurt. It's ok today as long as I don't bang it. Mine is pretty much the size of an a4 bit of paper.
