Alt: How is Saturday night panning out for you?
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:20, 33 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
My saturday night is over.
it's sunday morning now. I have no idea what I'm doing today. I have a feeling I may be going to see HP 7 part 2 at the cinema with a friend. Thus enbrokening my bank account still further.

Is life treating you well Poppet?
Had everything calmed down at Uni now, and are you able to sleep without random parties springing up all over the place?
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:25, Reply)
yes. Because I moved buildings.
I'm in a smaller one now and this weekend, only myself and another girl are here. Much quieter. Big plus. :D
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:27, Reply)
That's good.
Is the study going well?
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:30, Reply)
Ahaha yeah actually.
Chemistry inflicted redox on me and I had no idea how to do it until I looked at my notes from year 11. Good old High school simplicity. :D
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:30, Reply)
I'll take that as a 'yes' then!
Long term plan, are you still hoping to get a year over the water?
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:32, Reply)
Was hoping to, but it's a ridiculous amount of money to do so, well over 10 grand.
and I'm a full time student, so to earn that much, I'd have to work full time on top of that. Which is impossible. But I'm coming over in june/july for 3 weeks next year if I can wrangle it.
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:34, Reply)
Sounds like you've got a plan regardless.
I wish you well!
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:38, Reply)
I don't know about brilliant
but I just made another crochet square. That's pretty good. Also it's about all this evening has involved. That and moping about how bored I am.
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:27, Reply)
You should bunk off work and come to the pier.

(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:29, Reply)
At that time of year - you've got to be kidding
everything is manic, that's one of the times they'd actually notice. Why can't it be a Friday?
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:32, Reply)
I thought it WAS a Friday!

(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:33, Reply)
then why did I think it was a thursday?
OK, when is it, maybe I will come down to the pier
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:35, Reply)
BLOUSIE!
*Not sure, I need someone to tell me!*

I was hoping to take a walk on the pier, have a fish lunch and a couple of pint. Like you, if I don't work, I don't get paid. So I'm hoping it'll coincide with 'the great bash Boyce' without too much inconvenience!
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:37, Reply)
Well providing it's a Friday, I could come down after work
depending on my timetable (and assuming I have one), I'm not sure about London, though, by then I will be stoney broke and will be using all my spare time to write all the schemes of work for the courses they'll spring on me
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:38, Reply)
If you can only make one of the two, then I'd hazzard a guess that the Great Bash Boyce will be the one to go to!
Alternatively, I'll happily take you up the promenade.
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:46, Reply)
hehehe
Thing is - promenade would be for one day and take a couple of hours to get to - London is further and would require more arranging. I'll see how things are once term starts. Why can't people just arrange stuff for the next 4 weeks? I have time then.

alright Jeff
I've been killing the last few hours with an embarrassment of riches (fan-remastered and re-released Tangerine Dream gigs). Köln 1972, London 1975, East Berlin 1980 are my favourites so far.
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:34, Reply)
what sort of music are Tangerine Dream?

(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:35, Reply)
fruity

(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:35, Reply)
Electronic, mostly improvised synth-based psychedelic music in the 1970s. From the 1980s onwards, they became more melodic and accessible, and did quite a few film soundtracks.
This was their first big commercial success, released in 1974 (part 1/part 2).
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:41, Reply)
huh, that's pretty cool.
I can safely say I've been on a huge Eliza Doolittle kick lately (probably the exact opposite of TD). LOVE her music.
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:47, Reply)
It may be my imagination,
but in the video for "Pack Up", the double-bassist in her band looks a lot like Charles Mingus (a well-known jazz bassist active between the 50s and the 70s). I'm fairly sure this is not a coincidence.
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:55, Reply)
I wouldn't be surprised if it was... her parents are both musicians and have a lot of friends like that.
so maybe she asked him for help with her music.
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:57, Reply)
Aye, his music might well have been influential.
Though as he died in 1979 it definitely wasn't the man himself.
(, Sun 17 Jul 2011, 0:03, Reply)
I would have no idea when people in the music industry died. :P
If you say he did then it must be a lookalike.
(, Sun 17 Jul 2011, 0:19, Reply)
Sounds good Woodside.
Maybe follow that up with early-Edwin-Collins and a bit of Orange Juice.

*Rips it up and starts again*

I see Washed Out has finally made an album
have you had a listen yet?
(, Sat 16 Jul 2011, 23:57, Reply)
No, I've (ahem) acquired a copy of "High Times" and to date that's everything I know about his work.

I'm off to bed.
