All of those things have an emotional impactbut no-one feels personally invested in them. When I watch a film I don't feel a personal connection to the actors, or will them to act well or feel emotion when they don't. I take it as entertainment. I have no problem with people who like to watch football just as a sport, but I think the emotional attachment to a team is odd.
