i think i just have
to throw out everything i own

Well no, because that's utter bullshit.
Damp's caused by condensation or problems with the damp-proofing. They're spinning you a line.
(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 9:56, Reply)
a massively stupid one
it gets worse between big items of furniture and walls, but that's only with an existing issue.

I'd call them up and tell them not to be so fucking stupid.
(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 9:57, Reply)
With a letting agency like that, I'd call them up
and tell them I'm moving out as the house isn't fit for human habitation.
(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 9:59, Reply)
yeah

(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 9:59, Reply)
but i like this house
and it's too much effort to move out
(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 10:00, Reply)
mold is surprisingly bad for you

(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 10:00, Reply)
My house is mouldy and it's giving me a nasty cough.
I'm only putting up with it because I'm moving soon and the rent's so cheap.

It is not good for you and potentially fatal for asthma sufferers.
(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 10:01, Reply)
my house doesn't have a trace of it
which is excellent, but that's because it's fairly large and was built by the Victorians, who knew how to build houses.
(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 10:02, Reply)
The Victorians really knew their stuff.
Anything with iron or brick and they were your lads.
(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 10:03, Reply)
definitely
none of the walls are straight, but that doesn't really matter
(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 10:04, Reply)
Yeah, I'd much rather have a smaller, Victorian house
than one of these cheaper, flatpak new ones.
(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 10:06, Reply)
I have the luxury of having a good sized Victorian house
I remember sitting down on the sofa in my living room for the first time and noticing that the ceiling is higher than the room is wide.

gotta love high ceilings
(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 10:10, Reply)
hard to change lightbulbs, though

(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 10:11, Reply)
I can just reach the lightbulbs to change them if I stand on tiptoes with my arm outstretched

(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 10:14, Reply)
I love that. I am pretty tall, so I tend to feel pretty hemmed in with most modern housing.
First time I set foot in a flat converted from a Victorian townhouse, I fucking loved it.
(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 10:14, Reply)
could explain the little cough
i had for months. but i get a nice view and it's hard to find anything which isn't damp round here
(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 10:02, Reply)
that's Wales for you

(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 10:02, Reply)
yeah
well i'm stuck here now
(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 10:04, Reply)
i don't even had proper wardrobes
I have those canvas ones mainly because it's small
(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 10:00, Reply)
Maybe it's caused by Cavy's wee-wee.

(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 9:57, Reply)
i do wee in the corners

(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 9:59, Reply)
they are saying its condensation
they worst bit is in the bedroom where it's kind of like a basement and you'd expect a bit, but it's upstairs too. Pile of shite
(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 9:58, Reply)
condensation isn't caused by having too much stuff

(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 9:59, Reply)
Condensation is not caused by having too much stuff
or your windows closed. It's caused by having insufficient ventilation. Leaving the windows open will help but it'll be a security risk.
(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 10:00, Reply)
and it'll rain in

(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 10:01, Reply)
that's complete nonsense
those people are morons
(, Tue 16 Aug 2011, 9:56, Reply)
Fucking Mormons.
