Er... isn't the same side of the moon still facing us.
but we are between the sun and the moon, casting a shadow over it.
Or summat...

this making it dark, and not possible to see the earth from the moon

I'm not 100% sure on this, hence the question mark in my original post

edit: my post wasn't disputing that the same side of the moon is always facing Earth. I know that's true
