They did after the third or fourth time
but I was generally saved by lampshades

i had (still have if I'm honest)
a favourite stuffed toy called bunny which has ribbons with knots in which I'd rub against my lip when I was tired. I used to warm them on lightbulbs. I'd forgotten about that until now
