if it's a real proper chippy, cod in proper batter.
if not, cheese and onion pie.
there's a brilliant fish'n'chip restaurant on marylebone high street called "the golden hind" which is one of the few places in london that compares to northern chippies. they also do feta cheese fritters which melt in your mouth (in an explosion of fat, but meh) and which are incredible.

First time I've ever heard that from someone other than my Dad or Uncle

there's a pretty good one in alderley edge, where even the beckhams used to go occasionally. and this one in marylebone. the rest are ALL IN YORKSHIRE.

Although I remain skeptical about the ones in London. Maybe I'll do an inspection when we're down there next month. Addresses please.

on marylebone high street. it's amazing food, it's kitted out like a proper 1950's chippy, and it's seriously cheap.

The only place I've eaten in Alderley Edge is Gusto, and I love the food there.
