what have you been applying for
for which you are so unemployable?
(, Thu 25 Aug 2011, 22:24, 1 reply, 15 years ago)
So far, I've been applying for jobs I want to do, at levels befitting someone of my qualifications and intelligence
but I don't have the experience for most employers.

The things I *do* have the experience for, I'm too overqualified for, and they won't employ me because they think I won't stay long.

Frankly, it's a good job I have plenty of scope for earning doing what I'm already doing.

Well if you are already turning over a wedge then why worry!
We aren't meant to enjoy work, it is a means to live.

The more interesting ones
could you do them part time for a while, perhaps? That was certainly the only way into lecturing

If I had the time and was independently wealthy
I could probably do work experience. But I haven't, and I'm not, so I can't. Not for now, anyway.

more than one part time job?
or is that really unlikely/unworkable?
(, Thu 25 Aug 2011, 22:34, Reply)
Done that before. It's not that much fun.

You seemed reluctant to travel to Bristol for work.

I am.
Hour and a half each way in rush hour traffic, five days a week. Life is too short for that.

fair point
I did 4 and a pgce for a while and it was pretty sucky. Spent so much time travelling and so much money on petrol

I have 3.
But they really only amount to one, so I can't talk.
