Because I can't.

What prices were you quoted?
Also, what is your preferred airport. I'll have a look around my regular booking sites. See if I can find something reasonable for you.

Anywhere around the north east would be lovely.
I'll be in Newcastle and could potentially get the ferry but it takes ages. Been quoted a couple hundred quid so far, which is no good as I'll be getting a train to Enschede for the football when I'm in Amsterdam on top of the flights.

OK...
...Newcastle, unless you want to connect in London, is pretty much dead. Though the flights are cheap.

However, If you leave from Manchester you can get direct flights to Amsterdam Schipol. They range from £62 (Squeezyjet) to £158 (KLM).

That kinda what you're after?

The Manchester one could be perfect, nice one.
They definitely have to be cheap as possible.

OK, dude...
...here's the link I used:

www.kayak.co.uk/#flights/MAN-AMS/2011-11-30/2011-12-02

It'll list all flights from Manchester to Amsterdam.

If anything is unclear, let me know. :O)

Cheers mate.
I might go out from Gatwick with my mates, flying back to Edinburgh might work but the flight gets in at 10pm and getting to Newcastle at that time will be impossible.

If you're going "dahn sahf", here's one more option...
...take the Eurostar from St Pancras and go to Brussels. If you specify to Eurostar, you can use your Eurostar ticket to go from Brussels to any Dutch Train Station with 24 hours of arrival. Which means once you arrive at Brussels. you can train it to Amsterdam Centraal or straight to Enschede. I do that all the time.

Aye I read about that.
But I'd be doing it alone so it's a no go.
(, Sat 27 Aug 2011, 11:17, Reply)
Failing all that...
...Squeezyjet can fly from Edinburgh to Amsterdam and back for 50-something quid.

Is it possible to fly to Bremen and get a train or bus from there?

(, Sat 27 Aug 2011, 10:31, Reply)
Probably. But everyone I know is going via Amsterdam, the my number one aim is to travel with mates.

(, Sat 27 Aug 2011, 10:36, Reply)
I didn't take that into account.
