I love it when we're actually the big club stealing other players.
We've also had a £10.6m bid accepted for Bryan Ruiz who is supposed to be a little bit special. If we sign them two (as well as a centre midfielder) I will be more than a little happy.

In my (lower league) opinion.
Maynard is the best striker outside the prem and probably amongst the top 5/6 English strikers in the country.

City paid Crewe 2.5million for him, and they've turned down 4.75mil from Sven for him, on the basis that neither the club - nor, apparently the player - want to move to a Championship side.

I would imagine the fee will be around the 4mil mark.
But don't be surprised if the 'quoted' fee is higher, I know from chatting to the City chairman years back, that when the club bought Tony Thorpe from Fulham (during the Keegan era), the quoted fee was a million, but the reality was they sold him to us for half-a-million, Keegan saying, 'I can't be seen to be losing money on a player'

We did that with West Brom and Greening.
Said we signed him for £4m but we actually took him on loan and then at the end (when his contract at West Brom expired) signed him on a free. Then West Brom do some loss of earnings financial wizardry and get £4m out of the taxman or something, I don't understand, and we get a free player. My mate's head of marketing and brand management and fills me in on all this stuff.
