Have you heard of Tom Holt ? I've read quite a few of his books, enjoyed them quite a bit. It's like Pratchet only in a modern-world setting.

I read onebut I think I only finished out of tenaciousness. I find comic fantasy/sci fi is often done really badly and tend to revolve around loldwarvesusinglaptopslol. Tom Holt wasn't the worst I didn't mind it in places, but I thought it was like he was just building a story around a few jokes.
