Also, my guinea pig was trying to bury himself in my hair earlier. I think he misses his very furry brother :(

I've just had an email response from the woman
at the local pig rescue - they have a dating service :) Higgs can go along and see who he gets on with so there isn't the problem of getting a pig he doesn't like

it's pretty harsh on the lady pigs. If they don't have babies by 3 or 4 months old their pelvises fuse and after that, if they get pregnant they have to have a caesarian
