Not a genie as such
But a manifestation of post modern man on the shoulder, in the manner of the old devil and angel of old time cartoons.

Angel whispers "here are your achievements, your abilities, your potentials".

Demon whispers "look at him, he's better than you."

More or less the only commandment worth thinking about is avarice these days.
