A lad I know did that, the council had removed the cover, and put a plastic cover over the top of it
But there were no signs around it, and the barrier wasn't set properly, so when the dumb fuck was walking over it, he put one foot onto the cover, which shifted, dropping one of his legs down the hole.

I'll admit, I laughed when I heard about it, as it sounded funny. When it turned out he'd fucked his knee because of it, I felt a little bit guilty. Then laughed again.

I've done it once, near a bus stop.
A girl I never met laughed so hard she then proceded to ring her friends to tell them what just happened.
