I've been wearing ear plugs for years nowIt actually makes the bands sound better as you can hear them play, rather than just have your ears shut down.

I didn't wear any when I saw MBV a couple of years back and couldn't hear for several days after.I did wear some to watch Sunn o))) and Om, but unfortunately that only reduced the sound down to the level of the MBV gig (I tried a few seconds with one of them out and it was incredibly painful).
I have resolved to wear them to all future loud gigs.
