but I don't know hub gears are that popular anymore, shame really as I meant they are pretty indestructable, and you can change gear when stationary.

I just stood around the shops going "meh, they look like bikes". I secretly quite liked the pretentious Pashleys but I'd never admit it to the sporty, trendy sales guy.
Anyway, I quite like this: www.evanscycles.com/products/trek/t10-2009-hybrid-bike-ec001535
but of course they won't have it in the shop. They had about 10 women's bikes there in total, none of which were proper step-through.

You do realise that's a bit insulting, since it implies you should be wearing a skirt?

Think of something very very small. My husband, for example. That's how much I enjoy cycling. (Disclaimer: my love for my husband is in inverse correlation to his height.)
Anyway, I just need to get from A to B safely and efficiently, where A is my nice cosy house and B is a train station on the wrong side of Bristol. Occasionally I may want to freewheel past fields of sunflowers on a summers day with a baguette in my front basket. (Not a euphemism.)

You'll be able to cycle up walls with gears as low as those ones.

My real life pay-up-front budget is about 100 quid.

which Ride2Work is an Evans name for, then you can get the voucher for your bike at any shop.
Or you should tell your HR department to fuck off and go with the real cycle scheme so you can choose whatever shop you like.
