vague theme titles that leave lots of options for creativity and encourage them to think about theory and the meaning and potential of photographic images

Have them encapsulate a famous poem or work of fiction in photographs.

I tried one like this once with an aboriginal myth
It totally bombed*. But that was a different group. We tend to go with a title which is then interpreted how they like. We're trying to replace last year's 'The Decisive Moment'

*not that it's a bad idea, I don't think, but it just didn't work for some reason
