I actually hate when NE people have a REALLY strong accent
As someone born and bred here I have the accent but some of them I can't understand at all! Thick Scouse sounds horrible too, as does thick Brummie (normal of both is fine for me)

Welsh, Edinburgh scots and Spanish are the best ones, with Scandanavian just behind

Divn't pet.
People often accuse us Smoggies of sounding like Geordies, until I actually put on a Geordie accent and they admit how different they actually sound. I'll admit the Middlesbrough accent sounds very "council estate"

Agreed
I am from Sunderland and get "Geordie" all the time.

Do you know Lauren Laverne?
I have it on good authority she is a very nice person.

I refuse to believe this.

I like it when an older generation has a scouse accent, when it's softer
I find it quite comforting, as it reminds me of many of the people I grew up with.
