IIRC, they're responsible more than anyone else that lads wearing makeup was 'cool' again
Still not sure who is a bigger tosser though, Ville Valo or Robert Smith.

I'm worried about how much you know about them.
I'm beginning to suspect that the 'HIM are shit' thing is just a desperate bluff.

They started to get quite big over here when I was in school

No wonder I have never heard of them, I haven't bought anything new in the last couple of years.

Yeah man, I preferred it when wearing make-up made be different and individual, rather than cool.
I hear where you're coming from, this is why, other than the time I met you I've not worn eye-liner in many years.

It's not up to you to work out how much of the above is sarcasm.

Do you wear it because all of your mates do, and it's 'cool'?
Or because it's what you want to do?

Ah ha, you fail.
The only non-sarcastic bit was "other than the time I met you I've not worn eye-liner in many years."

Anyway, in past tense, it was because mostly I wanted to, the fact other people I hung out with was probably also a factor, as was the fact that girls liked it. Cool, other than my personal perception of it didn't come into it.

/taking it way too seriously.

Having seen how it came out on Halloween, I might still do eye-liner on special occasions.

Thing is, with your style, it could work quite well
However, when the only thing that they ever used to wear were band t-shirts, baggy jeans and trainers, the eyeliner just looked fucking ridiculous.

Especially as it only started to be done after HIM did it, and Blink 182 copied.
