It is my belief that nothing we ever produce musically in this country
will be enough to sufficiently apologise for Oasis.

Disclaimer; I'm aware that you're about to cite all manner of underground and non-mainstream artists and bands to contradict me, and bring your significantly superior musical knowledge to the table in order to humble me. Allow me to clarify; this post is designed purely to point out that the worst band of all time were British.

And so were The Smiths.

have you seriously listened to some German and French bands?
I realise Oasis are fucking awful, but think about this, man.

Allow me to redress;
Oasis are the worst band in history who I've heard. Doubtless being a teenager at the height of their popularity and ubiquity has skewed my viewpoint, but I also blame them for driving creativity out of mainstream British music in the 90s. Any new up-and-coming bands with notions of "innovation" or "originality" quickly learnt that ripping off the 60s was the way to sell records.

I'm not sure they were the worst, just far too samey
Liam has a fucking whiny voice too. The fact that their songs are quite basic and fairly easy to play might actually be a good thing as it got many people into bands

Yeah, SHIT bands
Possibly Oasis weren't the WORST per se, that honour would probably go to the likes of Cast, but they stuck around churning out interminable shite forever

I mean the fact that once you've learned a basic bar chord you can play 90% of Oasis songs
When you are learning the guitar, it is good to be able to play a known tune quickly

Fair point
That doesn't make it OK though!

Just being an argumentative cunt really

Well I was going to wade in and have a MASSIVE ARGUMENT ONLINE about this
And then the internet broke at work.
So I left in disgust and am now sitting in the pub.
Have a good weekend off-topic.

Have a good one sir

Oh don't listen to Mighters' talk, DF.
His mind got scrambled at all those New Order raves that happened in the late 80s.
(, Fri 18 Nov 2011, 15:17, Reply)
Well remembered
*congratulates self also*

*thunderous fives*
*heads off looking for cheap amphetamines*

/Although, all I actually said was that I distinctly remember a New Order sample being used to link other tracks a lot, to be fair, old boy.
