There used to be a "fives go to the Union" thing at UCL in the 90s
where it was a fiver to get in and a fiver for all you could drink. Including spirits, but only singles. Because, y'know, you couldn't go to the bar and go "a single vodka, a single gin, a single triple sec, a single tequila, a single white rum, oh and pint glass with some ice, a splash of coke and some sours in please which I definitely will not take back to my table and mix into a pint of long island iced tea, only with extra glasses to wash"

How many Uni students were sufficiently familiar with a Long Island Iced Tea to do that?

Me.
Edit - my point was more that their "pissing into a hurricane" method of controlling drinking was to refuse to serve doubles. As if you couldn't ask for a singe G&T in a pint glass and then 4 extra single gins.

As opposed to not offering unlimited drink for a fiver.

I was just being a facetious motherfucker.

Oh Mr Badger you're a hockey bod aren't you?
You'd be quite proud of my son, who's 14.

I got called away from work on Wednesday to take him to A&E after he got a gash about his eye playing hockey at P.E. Paper stitches and a nicely swollen and bruised eye.

If he plays cricket for my team, he HAS to wear a helmet whilst batting - whether he's playing or practicing, but hockey seems to have no such regulations. WTF is that all about?
