It's good but I prefer the original:

I could be wrong on my trivia but I think this may have been their highest charting song. Monty will know.

The actual original

The seminal version is The Kingsmen
But they didn't know the lyrics, or where it came from.
(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:24, Reply)
Nah, there are much better versions by both The Sonics and The Fabulous Wailers.

(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:28, Reply)
I thought you meant Bob Marley for one terrible second

(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:31, Reply)
Oh please.
He put the 'gay' into 'reggae', that wanker.
(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:32, Reply)
*high fives*
Bob Marley is unrelentingly shit
(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:35, Reply)
And he didn't even LIKE doughnuts.
The cunt.
(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:36, Reply)
I can't stand reggae at all.

(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:36, Reply)
im not a fan either or ska for that matter
One song is alright, any more is rather boring
(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:39, Reply)
I like a bit of ska.

(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:40, Reply)
Oh man I love proper ska.
2-tone, however, sucks massive balls.
(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:41, Reply)
There were a few good 2-Tone tracks.

it bores the shit out of me
Unfortunately most bands round here seem to be ska
(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:43, Reply)
^ this
ska and reggae can both fuck off
(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:46, Reply)
I don't like dubstep much either, except for Benga, Burial, Pinch, Shackleton, Martyn, Mount Kimbie and the entire UK Funky sub genre.
I quite like post dubstep though.
(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:49, Reply)
I'm afraid not a single word of that made sense to me

(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:49, Reply)
wut?

(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:50, Reply)
don't be too concerned
Dubstep is music for people without enough of a brain to listen to actual music
(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:52, Reply)
Burial is superb. But I tend to think of his stuff as post-garage rather than dubstep.

(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:55, Reply)
keep up that sort of talk
And you will experience burial first hand
(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:56, Reply)
Burial is superb. And he doesn't rely on huge sub basses or half time 140 bpms.
He does use 8 bar two step though, hence the post-garage tag.

See?

Vipros I'll hold his arms while you stab him

(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 23:08, Reply)
Mount Kimbie and James Blake are post dubstep.
Burial can't feasibly be post-dubstep as he started releasing records in 2006.
(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 23:09, Reply)
I've recently discovered that i hate def lappard even more than i hate U2
they make Bono appear talented and modest
(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:50, Reply)
I think that's taking it too far
nothing could do that
(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:51, Reply)
You mean you didn't already know that Def Leppard are gash?

(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:52, Reply)
i wasn't prepared for just how bad they really are

(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:53, Reply)
Oh, the Hysteria of the situation.

(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:52, Reply)
I quite like the Specials

(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:44, Reply)
It's up to you.
I love the Specials
(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:45, Reply)
The Sonics version
Is a lift of The Kingsmen.

Other than the obvious, what ARE the lyrics?
(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:32, Reply)
You have it the wrong way round, old boy.
Both bands had it in their live repertoire before The Kingsmen had a hit with it. The Sonics and Wailers were kind of brother bands in the way the MC5 and The Stooges were, swapping band members and playing together in the Tacoma area.
(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:37, Reply)
I think this is right.

(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:40, Reply)
A band called the 'Wailers' being 'brothers'
In other news. Bear caught shitting in a wooded area.
(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:41, Reply)
They all solidified in Portland, OR
A beautiful city, kicking out superb music now.
(, Tue 6 Dec 2011, 22:54, Reply)
No it isn't.
Kingsmen were first.
