Alternatively
it's your house - you do what you want. Get stuck straight in!

I think it's OK, just a few nail holes I can fill with polyfilla*
oh and a shitty border round the top by the ceiling

*that's right isn't it?
(, Fri 20 Jan 2012, 20:25, Reply)
That's right.
And take the border off before you paint, or it'll look weird.

OK, now about cleaning carpets....

Get a professional
You CAN do it, but carpet cleaning companies charge (comparative) bobbins.
(, Fri 20 Jan 2012, 20:31, Reply)
this is good advice, I think
I think it's something I would be shit at

To get the whole carpet right
You need to apply equal pressure everywhere and you can't do that without a machine.

Your friendly slum landlord brings you this advice free of charge. Ring a Chem-Dry franchise - they have good guarantees.

ta - there seems to be a dude round here who does it
I'll call for a quote tomorrow
(, Fri 20 Jan 2012, 20:38, Reply)
Look up Chem-Dry though
They're franchises but Chem-Dry have very strict control of franchisees - something like 3 complaints and you're out.

They've never let me down.

yeah, that one round here is chem-dry

And do it before you get all your furniture in.

(, Fri 20 Jan 2012, 20:33, Reply)
if I were on half term
I'd try and get all these things done before moving furniture, it'd be wiked
