My girlfriend (who was organising it) interpreted my saying 'I fancy a quiet night' as 'Don't invite anyone over', meaning that I saw her, and my best mate, who had spoken to the GF the night before, asking whether she'd invited anyone. She admitted she hadn't thought to, and when asked why not do it now, responded 'Too late, lol'.
Either that or my 18th. I'd spent the day working, was absolutely knackered, most of my friends either couldn't be there, or weren't 18 yet, so we couldn't go in most pubs. I ended up home by midnight, stone cold sober.

That's the way I describe a night of drinks with friends, always has been.

She'd insisted that she wanted to organise something, I used a phrase that I use on a regular basis, she misunderstood, then when corrected, decided she couldn't be arsed to text anyone.

And as for the second point, it was another persons birthday the same night, everyone had assumed I was planning my birthday for the week after (as I had done the previous 3 years).
