I had a pizza express Sloppy Giuseppe
(it's a pizza not a sexual act)

As they were 2+side for £5 in Sainsburys. I chopped up a chili and added it for extra yum, and had a giant dollop of coleslaw (my chosen side).

I may have put the kibosh on my London job chances by asking for more money than I originally asked for. The recruiter is worried, anyway. We shall see...

i guess the HR bods are the ones with their hand on the purse strings.
But if everyone else liked you, it could still go in your favour.
Fingers crossed, anyway.

What sort of percentage increase are you asking?
May not be a bad thing if it's a realistic assessment of your intrinsic value - depends on the going rate for your thing in your area.

Also - evenin' all.

I originally said I'd be ok with a range x to x+5k
(apparently, I'd forgotten I said that) but when talking to the HR lady I said X+5k to X+10k.

Recruiter thinks around X+5k is the most they'd pay and they might consider me greedy. It was, I admit, a clumsyish ruse to make sure I got X+5 rather than X.

Everything is circumstantial
Were you being dogmatic or flexibile with your request?

Flexible I think
I said I'm obviously prepared to negotiate - and listed some factors like relocation and my current good pension vs their no pension - but I'm thinking of X+5k to X+10k.

So it may all work out, or they might go with somebody else on that basis alone. I think I passed on all the other criteria.

It's a long time (10 years plus in a far softer market) since I did any recruiting
But in those days we'd look at skills first, look at what we'd pay for the ability and slap the best candidate down to an acceptable pay bracket regardless of what they were asking.

Things are probably different now.
