Snooty, blasé and deluded as to how suave I am. I want to live over there (with a girl in tow) more than anything. I'd definitely try and learn the language first, I think it's nothing less than rude not to.

but I've been here 18 years and the only time I needed the language was when I accidentally turned up to a Welsh speaking church

I can't think of anything more pointless than speaking Welsh. I would pay a million quid to be able to speak fluent French tomorrow though.
I just spilt wine all over my speakers. No more dancing.

mostly no one else does so it's like a secret code for making fun of people behind their backs. At least that's what I think they're doing

If I want to make fun of people I'll do it regardless. Not that I ever would, I'm a nice guy.

you don't even get the benefit of extra consideration for some jobs. I reckon people wanting to get into any form of media in wales should start learning the language, it's not going to be all that competitive to get into S4C/HTV

The very least you can learn is how to say please and thank you.
You'll probably need more than that if you're going to live there though.

To make things 'quirky' and 'fun'. I asked for the bill in Spanish because I know what it is anyway - but I told them I was a quarter Spanish, on the count of me being quarter Spanish, before I knew about the Spanish speaking thing, after that they looked at me in disgust for the rest of the time I was in there because I only knew a few phrases.
