So you want to stop your neighbour excercising his right of way?
Why didn't you check this when you bought the house?

It's not that at all. Too complicated to detail here, but he bought his place a few months ago and he wants to change where the right of way goes, despite him having good, unhindered access on a paved pathway.

Just tell him to fuck off and then lock the gate

battered will have his own reasons
but i can tell you that one of the most contentious things i get are people abusing rights of way. eg i have one in ealing right now where the left hand side office block has a right of way on foot only over the right hand side office block's driveway. the sub-sub-undertenant of the shop on the ground floor has employed a driver who abuses it to park his van there every single day, thus blocking all the cars that are parked in the right hand side's car park.

when asked to move, he went ballistic and screamed at them in chinese for about 20 mins. he still parks there daily, and it's about to cost his employer a LOT of money.
