ah now, I actually know this.
In 1953 two farmers had an argument about the boundaries of their land, specifically around "beanfield" (which hadn't been used to grow beans since 1769). They asked the local magistrate, the 10th Lord Cardigan, to mediate the dispute.
They settled on having a fight, naked, in a pigsty full of brambles. The fight lasted three weeks with most of rural England devastated and hundreds of thousands dead. It also caused the collapse of the monarchy with liz being installed shortly after.

In the end Cardigan called it a draw and was shot for treason.

as a way for petrol stations to make more money.
